Building Our Future Newsletter April 2021
Happy Easter to all of our WESS families.
Thank you so much for the support you have shown our staff, not only over the last 3 days, but throughout the term! It was wonderful to hear the news that the lockdown has been lifted for the official commencement of the holidays.
What will happen if a lockdown occurs close to the start of Term 2 and disrupts schooling?
At WESS, we have already done an extraordinary amount of work to not only respond to the challenges presented by COVID-19, but to plan for any potential future disruptions to our students' learning. We are therefore well prepared to respond to any further lockdowns should they occur.
Should this occur during the holiday period and disrupt the start of Term 2, we have been advised the following will happen:
1. The Department of Education (DOE) will be notified by Queensland Health.
2. DOE will send a COVID-19 Special Broadcast to all staff, outlining the relevant health advice.
3. DOE will communicate any decisions regarding a change to the start of Term 2 broadly to the community via social media and mainstream media.
4. Principals will be provided with advice by DOE, including relevant information regarding the lockdown and its implications for schools.
As always, I will keep our WESS community updated via our usual Newsflash process, particularly should there be any changes to the start of Term 2 processes.
Meanwhile, enjoy reading our latest Building our Future newsletter(attached) which includes exciting updates on our WESS expansion.
At this stage I look forward to seeing all of our students back at school on Monday 19 April.
