Medication at School

​​​​​​​​West End State School (WESS) follows the Department of Education's Administration of medications in schools procedure.

You must inform WESS administration if your child has any specific medical needs and/or needs medication during school hours. Students are not to self-administer medications at school except where direct permission has been granted by the Principal.

For detailed information and documentation requirements for specific medications, click the links below:

• Emergency medication (e.g. epinephrine/adrenaline, salbutamol, midazolam)
• Non-emergency medication, as-needed (e.g. creams, ointments, Panadol, antihistamine)
• Short term routine medication (e.g. antibiotics)
• Long term routine medication​ (e.g. Ritalin, dexamphetamine, methylphenidate)

Student medication will be stored and dispensed at the following locations:

• Main Admin (B Block)
• Year 2
• Year 3
• Year 4
• Student Services (N Block)
• Prep
• Year 1
  
• Year 5
• Year 6
